Around the house

Heath caught a fly. Yes caught a fly.  I think he must have wounded it in the process because it couldn't fly afterwords.  He played with it for quite a while letting it crawl all over him.

I remember Houston catching flies a while back, but he would eat them.

Matt has been doing Insanity pretty religiously since we've been home.   Heath & Houston love to "exercise" along with him.  It's so cute!

 When Matt was talking about going back to school Heath was pretty sad that he's too little to go also.  So I decided to do preschool with Houston and Him. 

They've loved it! Heath especially every day asks, "Is it time for school yet?"  I love how eager he is at this time in his life.

Our friend Ellie was over one day so she joined us.  We were working on the letter B, so we made Brown Bear masks, and read "Brown Bear Brown Bear" by Eric Carle

Every day we do our calendar, Heath loves it.  The whole time he refers to me as "Teacher" which he started on his own.  Ill have to admit, it was pretty weird at firs... well actually it's kinda still weird.

 We sing the days of the week song, and move the days of the week to the correct places. Then count up and down to and from 10 with our fingers, count the legos to make the "ones" place number in the date (when it gets to 10, we move the tens place # up one and start back at 0 legos, if that makes sense)  

 Then we run outside and decide what the weather is like.  I think this is Heaths favorite part.  He loves to make a decision and move the arrows to the correct place.   Then we go over the number, letter, shape and scripture of the day. (Ive been amazed at how quickly Heath can memorize scriptures)  We sing the ABC's  and count again, and usually will sing 2 or two more songs. (Tin Tim the turtle, The wise and the foolish man, Do as Im doing. those are their favorites right now.)


 Then we find a book that goes along with our letter of the day and read it.

Then Houston's usually had enough, so he goes to play in the living room while Heath and I sit at the table and do a few pages in his "school book"

 We got this at Walmart, I've been really happy with it, and Heath LOVES it! All the pages are bright and colourful and they take things at a slow fun pace.   I have had to limit him to only 5 pages a day. He loves to use his "school pencil" and do "work"  Hopefully he keeps this enthusiasm all through his school years.

My goal in all of this is to make school & learining fun for Heath. To keep it short, and to where he always wants more the next day.  So far so good.

Then some days we do an art project, some days we're done there.  Whatever the boys are up to. 

It's sure been fun!

Houston has been really inconsistent in the nap department lately.  Hopefully we'll get that figured out before March gets here.

Houston is a big time snuggler.  While we were away this summer I almost always let him lay in bed with me to fall asleep. Since we've been home he's been crawling into bed with Heath almost every night to snuggle with someone.  Heath's not much for snuggling, but I guess he'll tolerate it from his brother.  Houston lays there twirling Heath's hair until he falls asleep.

Pretty cute if you ask me.
