Labor Day Fun

Ben & Rebecca came up to visit Memorial Day weekend.  Heath had so many plans for what to play and do with his cousins once they arrived.  We had been talking about it all week.  They arrived Friday night and Heath promptly asked for his costumes. (the one thing he REALLY wanted to play with them)

We had some dinner, then birthday cake. We hadn't eaten it the night before on my real birthday so celebrated with everyone.

I had lots of wonderfully eager helpers to blow out the candles!

Saturday morning Jim&Mary and their tribe arrived and all the parents went to the Temple together.  I stayed home to tame the wild beasts since I get to go at least every other week on my own.

We had some lunch and everyone piled into the vans to go to the Science Center.  It was SUPER busy.  I forget, because when we go it's usually during the day, on a week day, but it's crazy on the weekends, and Labor Day weekend was especially crazy.  We did have a lot of fun regardless.

On the bottom floor of  the center there is a big dinosaur exhibit, complete with a giant life size robotic TRex and triceratops.  I don't think Hank took his eyes off that dinosaur the whole time we were down there.  He was captivated.

Up stairs they had an energy exhibit.  Houston loved this part.  You threw fake rubber pieces of coal into the "Fire" and it showed you how much energy was being produced.  He was just playing basketball!

Once we'd had enough of all the crowds, we all trekked back home.  We bid the Lesoos farewell and made some yummy pizza for dinner.

Sunday morning all the boys played and played then we all went to church. After church it was time to say goodbye to Uncle Jim, he was leaving for a 2 week hunting trip in Alaska.  Matt took him up to the airport.  Can't wait to hear about his Alaskan adventure next time we see him.

Monday morning we decided to take a trip to Grant's farm. The homestead of  Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. It is now owned by Anheuser Busch. (yes, the beer)

They have a beautiful stable area where all the huge Busch Clydesdale's reside.

After you look at the stables they take you on a tram ride through the farm up to the top of the hill where the park sits. On the tram ride you see all sorts of animal life that they keep on their farm, deer, elk, buffalo, long horn cattle, ostrich, moose, and many others.

At the top they have a mini zoo.  With hourly animal shows and a petting zoo.

These two didn't care much for the petting zoo. They waited outside with Uncle Matt the Rat.

Then we went to the water park to have our picnic lunch.  The boys loved it!

And then we rushed home, and packed up so Mary could hit the road.

And all too soon everyone was gone again.
