Flush it down

I haven't wanted to blog about this because every time I get my hopes up and think we've done it... things go astray, but I think it's safe to say that HEATH IS POTTY TRAINED!
It's been a happy time in our house!
Celebrating at the Zoo
Heath had always been really hesitant about going #2 on the toilet. He says its Be Gusting to me. But this time we tried to train it worked!
It all started with Heath's cool older friends London & Miles telling him about their cool big boy underwear and how they only like to go in the potty. (Thanks so much guys!)
After that he was pretty determined to not wear diapers anymore.
I also made him a little stool that fits into our tiny bathroom so he can get onto the toilet, and wash his hands all on his own rather than me doing it for him. So he owns it, it's his thing.
He's been dry for about two weeks now and he wore real underwear to church today (not a pullup) and did just great!
We bribed him with a sticker chart to go to the Zoo, and on Saturday that's just what we did.
I feel my life has forever changed!

This Song also became a new favorite in our household.

I've got nothig to do today but Smile!

"Mommy be a horse"

Heath has been singing so much lately!  The other day I listened in on him singing:

"I love Daddy, Daddy's at school. I love Mommy, Mommy's at home. Houston and Me are jousting in the libbing room. We are a Happy Family."

to 'A Happy Family'

I was pretty impressed with his wording skills.

"Mommy be a fish"

Houston is getting in 4 molars.  It has been pretty murderous for all of us.           : (   Screaming about everything has become his norm.
Where has our sweet little Houston gone?!  Hopefully they hurry up and break through and we get our little boy back soon!

Heath LOVES to run.  For the past few days he's wanted to keep the toys put away and just run.  When he's getting ready in the morning he always asks to wear "running shorts" so he can run fast!

The other day we were unpacking some boxes that still haven't been touched since we moved and came across my old track medals.  Heath wanted to wear some of them and I told him about how I could run faster than anybody else so I got the medals.  He thought that was pretty cool. I also told him how kids called me cheetah girl so now he wants to be a cheetah boy.

Daddy ran fast too, so Heath it's in your genes. Run Heath Run! and Love every minute of it!

We've had to change up Houston's wardrobe a bit lately.  He has started putting his hands down into his diaper any chance he gets, so he is now confined to shirts that snap at the bottom and zip up jammies.

The other day he had on a shirt that snapped up the front as well as at the bottom. I caught him with the front snaps undone, trying to get the top off his shoulders to get to his diaper.

Only once did he do it after pooing in his diaper....: (

We're getting things figured out though and he's been staying out for a couple days now.

Houston loves to look out our big window.  There is almost always someone walking/biking down the bike trail in front of our house or the geese are close or a dog is being walked. He's gotten pretty good at saying DOg and starts panting when he sees one.

Heath also loves to look out.  Lately during 'School' we'll count how many cars go by of a certain colour.  It's great when I'm working in the kitchen later and he comes running in to tell me he saw 6 red cars outside.
Houston also loves to climb into the window.

Every now and then someone will be walking past our window and look over and see him standing there and get a slight panicked look on their face.   Little do they know there's a couch under him. (and he's too chicken to jump... for now... hopefully that lasts for a while or we may be moving the couch soon)
 Heath on the other hand....

Aldi had bags of Cutie oranges on sale for 1.45 last week so we've been enjoying ourselves some oranges!

I said to Heath, "Heath these are called Cutie oranges. Are you my cutie?"

"No... I'm not cute......I'm handsome.
My name is Heath Handsome."

The other day Heath sang part of  The Family over and over and over in a round:

"Daddy tells us a big story Mommy leads us in a song and it seems that popping corn and having fun Daddy tells us a big story Mommy leads us in a song and it seems...... "

ALL DAY LONG!   It was really cute for a while....then I guess it was still pretty cute.
It looks like he's going into a back flip.
At story time at the library they do the hokie pokie almost every week.  Heath usually stands there with his hands in his pockets and watches all the other kids in the room dance around and sing.

Then when we get home he sings and does it all day long with Houston being goofy as ever.

I guess he inherited my shyness in public.
Last Sunday was Houston's first week in Nursery all on his own.   I don't know what it is, maybe because I nursed him quite a bit longer than Heath, maybe because I compare him to Heath who's so much bigger, but Houston still seems like such a baby to me.   It's kinda hard to believe he's ready for nursery already. He just seems so little.

He did super though. His teachers said he only got sad when they left the toy room to go to the singing room, but it only lasted for a minute.  I think it helps that Heath's class has singing time the same time Houston's does so they can be in there together.   We have such a great nursery program in our ward with  wonderful leaders. Some lucky little boys we have.

Heath has been talking to imaginary friends lately.  It seems every day it's a new person with a new made up name.  The other day it was "Paper Lockie" another time it was "Snoggie mogle"  He talks to them and tells them his plans of what to play during the day.  Its pretty cute.
Houston's been pretty sick for a week or so.  He has just had some major runs and his appetite has gone way down. In two weeks he went from 28.5# to 25#.  I took him into the Dr on Wednesday and they didn't see what may be causing it so they had blood drawn on him and a stool sample. (which was pretty much water) He did really good with the blood draw. (unlike Heath when they had to test him for lead) He cried while the needle was in and once it was out he was fine.  The tests showed he has a virus and they said he should just fight it off on his own.  We had been doing the BRAT diet so we continued that and cut down his milk (kinda hard on the little guy when he usually drinks 6+ bottles a day) A couple days later things started to harden up and he's been eating more like himself again! So I think he's on the mend!

"Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride." -JFK

A couple weeks ago I figured out how to attach our stroller to the bicycle! (finally)
When we'd gotten the trailer Matt had said he thought we needed to get a little adapter for it to attach so I didn't  think any further on it.  I got to thinking about it and did some searching online and figured out how it works on our bike.  : )  Oh Happy Day

The boys and I have been riding about 4-6 miles every day. They just love it and I do too!

The other day Daddy took them for his first spin. (with the trailer)

We live right along a wonderful bike path here in the city so it's been working out just splendidly.  Now we just need to get one more bike, then we can all go together.

Weekend Surprise

We had just finished eating dinner (pizza) and had the boys in the tub when we heard a knock on the door. Who was it? Grandma, Grandpa, Sterling and Dallin! They came complete with more Pizza and popcicles in hand!

We had a grand time! We stayed up way too late having fun and talking, then they all camped out in the living room on air mattresses and we tried to convince Heath that they would still be there when he woke up in the morning.

Houston just loves my Dad.  The only time he really snuggles like this with me is when he's really sick. Anytime Papa's around Houston's doing this.

We had a laid back kind of morning. Then they took us out for lunch.

My original "Little Boys"
 My new "Little Boys"

Our boys sure look up to their Uncles. Better be good you guys!

We took a quick trip to the park before they had to hit the road again. It was such a beautiful day!

What a wonderful surprise!

I know my NAME!

During Houston's nap time we've been going to "Heath's School."  After about a week Heath went from being able to write only H's to his whole name. He can also make S & L (for Uncle Sterling & Luke) and M & D. (for mommy & daddy) It's amazing to me how wired for learning his brain is right now.  He picks up on things so fast.
Are you jealous of Matt's huge (8ft x 4ft) white board for school? It's shower board from Lowes and cost a whopping $10.  Pretty sweet!
