The Knights of my Heart

So maybe I'm not a good Mom and let Heath watch the PG13 movie "A Knights Tale" once or twice or a few times..... but hey, He loved horses, and this was such a cool horse movie.  We edited out a few choice parts, and the Kid loved it.  Ever since then He & Houston want to play knights/jousting all day ever  day. They are pretty much obsessed.    Here Heath's setting up a jousting course for his little guys & horses with his Lincoln Logs.
I found these self portraits of Heath on our camera. He's so stinkin cute.  I think Houston must have taken this bottom picture, pretty good shooting.  (Apparently I leave our camera within reach too often)
I get multiple requests daily from Heath, "Mom rock us, sing the we will rock you song!"
Heath loves to fall dramatically then wait for Houston to come give him a kiss.

 Houston the victor.
Houston's lance & cowboy boots. (apparently knights wear helmets shields and cowboy boots according to Heath)

Sometimes his knights even ride their toy cows & goats.
 The sound effects are great!

Sometimes the little knights get a little too physical with each other and the lances have to leave for a while. Every time I think I have all the possible "lances" hidden, they find new ones.   Do you recognize this familiar baby toy part?

Houston & Heath are both professional rocking horse riders.  They can sure make that thing GO!

This picture makes me smile every time I see it:

 My sweet little knight.
While all these things are fun, the best horse in the house is always Daddy!

Snow Man!

We've had a few snowy days this month.  The boys have loved it!
Houston especially was super cute to watch. He was so curious about that cold white wet stuff.
This has become a favorite place outside, climbing the trees. Houston still surprises me with his climbing skills.

The second snow we got was really good packing snow. I taught Heath how to make snow balls and he sure enjoyed himself throwing them at me. : )

After a while Heath ditched the gloves... so it was time to go inside and warm up.
Af

Then Houston ditched the hat & gloves, so it was really time to go inside to our tasty hot (warm) chocolate & left over pizza for lunch.  Don't worry, the boys made good use of the crusts by dipping them in the hot chocolate. Nothing like chocolate covered pizza crusts.

February wrap up

I love these pictures Heath took when we caught him hiding in his room with the camera.

The boys love this spot in the house. Right on top of the air vents.

The other day while I was cleaning the shower the boys were playing in a little bit of bubbly water in the tub with their fingers.  Heath said "Your a good helper Mommy. Your helping us clean really good."
I couldn't help but laugh a little bit.

I love it when Houston gets excited about things.  Any time we ask "Who wants to ---?" He enthusiastically throws his fists in the air and yells "YEAH!" even when it's things he really doesn't want to do.
We decided it was high time to give the boys a haircut.  I was hoping to just trim around the ears and necks and keep the top pretty long, but with wiggly boys Matt thought it easier to just buzz them. : (   I maybe was a pretty sad about it at while they were getting cut, but now I think they're so handsome!
 Houston's first real hair cut.
Matt fixed the tires on Heath's bike for us.  Since the boys ride bikes while I do laundry (in the apartment building laundry room) it was super awesome to have done!

Then Heath "fixed" Houston's bike.

Houston "Helping"  to put away the Christmas decorations.

 I love those little toes!

I have very few photo's of Heath with his normal Heath face. No smile or anything. He's sure cute!

We keep the chairs laid down at the table so Houston can't do this, but anytime we forget...
 Heath loves books!
Before church on Sunday I found Heath like this. "What 'cha doing Heath"    "Just Readin'."

We were driving home from church later that day and Matt was driving with one hand (we have a stick, so that's what you have to do most of the time in the city) Heath yelled up to Matt, "TWO hands on the wheel Daddy!" so Matt put both hands on the wheel and exaggeratedly grabbed it tight. "Not so tight Daddy!..... Relax."

Oh MAN! We almost started crying we were laughing so hard. Where he comes up with this stuff?

It seems life has been really busy since we've been home from our Christmas vacation!  When life gets busy blogging gets put at the bottom of the list... So an update:

This semester Matt's load isn't quite as crazy, so we've been able to enjoy a lot more Daddy time than we did last semester. (Last semester was REALLY HARD! both for Him and Us.) It's been a testament to me of the importance of two parents working together for a household to work.  The boys are much happier now.

Matt & I got bit by some de-clutter bug.  Pretty much every night after the boys are in bed we've been going through boxes in the garage, or organizing in the house.  It's been really nice getting our home in order, just feels great!

Heath is a singing man.  He sings all day every day lately. I absolutely love it! He does sing the same line over and over again quite frequently for an hour at a time... but it's still really cute.   Some of his latest are repeated phrases are: lead me guide me walk ba-side me  I am a Child of God, to shine frow him each day Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam,  will you still feed me, will you still feed me, when im sixty four!? When I'm 64, Onward eber Onward! As we Glory in His Name! Called to Serve, He also can sing all of You are My Sunshine, which is SO CUTE! If you want to hear it you should call our house.

Houston has been starting to say some words.  Most of them don't really sound like the word he's saying, but we know what he means.  Up until a couple weeks ago all he said was, "more" & "cheese" (for pictures). Then one day we were in Aldi and he saw a huge picture of a blown up apple on the wall and stopped and said, "Aaaaap-boh" over and over again pointing. He was so proud of himself. (I was pretty proud of him too) since then he's kinda exploded with words. He says football, basketball, mine, more, cheese, apple, orange, banana, MOM (which is in caps because he usually yells it, fairly harshly! Heath always said Mommy, it's kinda weird to my ears) Daddy, Heath (Heet) bathtub, & I love you (I dub du) I love it!

Heath has been really curious about who killed our food lately.  When we sit down to eat any type of meat he usually asks, "Who killed this pig? Who killed this cow? Who killed this Chicken? Who killed this Fish?"  He's surprisingly really good at determining whitch animal we are eating.
When my Mom was here last week she treated us to a delicious Chinese Buffet! While we were getting ready to leave the house, Heath asked where we were going. Matt told him we were going to go eat Chinese. Heath thought about it for a minute, then said, "Who killed them?"

Houston is Mr Independent! We are hardly allowed to do anything for him these days.  We were eating bean burritos for dinner on Monday night.  I made a burrito for Houston & Heath, then Matt and I sat down and made our own at the table.  Houston pulled his apart, dumped out the contents, laid his tortilla on the table, loaded the contents back into it then folded it back up & ate it.
In Relief Society Meeting on Sunday he had a ziploc bag of GoldFishies. I tried to open them for him & he just squawked and ran the other way. He sat for about 10 minutes trying to bite the bag open. Once he got some of the plastic ripped off I took him out into the hall where he howled while I took the bag from him and opened it. Then he looked up at me like, "why didn't you do that 10 minutes ago?" Little runt!

Heath seems to be very stuck in the middle lately. In this not a baby, not a big kid limbo.  The other day he wanted to light a candle.  I told him that only Mommys & Daddys can do that to which he replied, "But I'm a Daddy, I'm 28!"  "You're 28? I thought you were 3?"   "No I'm 28 now." (he knows that's how old Matt is) "Well eventhough you're 28 you still aren't a Daddy so you can't light a candle."   fast forward about 3 minutes. I'm getting a bottle of milk for Houston  "I want a bottle with milk Mommy."    "Nope you're not a baby anymore, you can have sippy cups, not bottles"   "But I'm one Mommy, I need a bottle."

Heath came into the kitchen the other day saying, "Papa's here! I saw his car on the road!" sadly it was just a car that looks like Papa's, no Papa inside.

Houston is getting really good at hugs! We just love them. He'll come up to you and just squeeze. He must get it from his Daddy!
