New Places

Houston often will finish using the bathroom and curl up on the floor saying his legs are broken and need a rest.  One day I went back to check on him and found him asleep.

Just before Halloween we moved to Spfld for a few months so Matt could do a rotation at Mercy Hospital.  My parents have an empty rental house there so it worked out perfectly for us.  We have absolutely loved being close to family and having three, yes THREE bathrooms.   It's so nice to have a nice big house all to ourselves. 

 One day we were on our way to the store. Hannah piped up from the back seat and said, "Mom! Poop!"   After we parked I checked her and she was still clean so we took off for the bathroom.  I put her down on the potty and she did it!   After that she didn't have another dirty diaper.  She would always let us know and did it on the potty!

 Along with a nice roomy house, we also have an amazing back yard that is completely fenced in.  It has been life changing!  The boys would be out there from sun up to sun down if I didn't make them do school, chores, and come in for meals.  They love it! and I love it too.  They are so happy.

 Some of our neighbors had 3 swings out for free.  We snagged them up and hung them on the clothes line.  At first we weren't sure if that would work out, but it has been awesome. I never have to push anyone.  As long as Heath is pumping his swing, it gently swings everyone else.

 We are pretty happy here.  : )

Milk Me

This is what happens when Houston asks you for a drink of milk and you don't get it for him at that very moment. 

It's a ME Mario!

 This year for Halloween the boys had a hard time choosing something.  They flipped and flopped between ninjas, knights, and superheros.  About a week before Halloween I pinned them down to made them make a decision and Mario and Luigi won out.  Lucky for me they were super easy costumes! : )   I was going to make Hannah be a pink mario, but Matt insisted that she be princess peach. "It would just be too cute!"   That week a friend gave us this pink dress along with some other hand me downs for Hannah and it couldn't have been better timing.  Just had to add a few ruffles and a crown.

 They were so cute and loved jumping around and saving Hannah.

 We went to a fun party here with friends where Hannah won the cutest costume contest and Houston became a pro at bobbing for apples.

 Houston got one for himself, then when all the other kids were failing he started bobbing for apples for them.  I think he got 5 total.

  We spent real Halloween in Spfld with family.  It was super fun.  Heath loved trick or treating and wanted to do it all night. Houston got one piece of candy and said, "Ok, I'm ready to go back to Grandpa's house now."  They have such different personalities.

We made mummy bread sticks.  Heath's was especially awesome.

 I'm pretty sure Hannah had no idea why we were eating Ice cream, but she was pretty happy to have a pink ice cream cone!

October

 For about a week Hannah had HORRIBLE smelling breath.  I could hardly stand to hold her anymore because her breath smelled strongly of dog poop. I was diligently brushing her teeth as thoroughly as I could, having her drink lots of water, but couldn't think of anything else to help it. Her nose was also running non stop.

After talking with my friend Liz one afternoon she said that her niece had something similar once.  They ended up taking her into the Dr and she had just pushed some food up her nose. They pulled it out and everything was solved.

When Matt got home from Clinic I told him what Liz had said.  We got out our Nose Frida (If you don't know what this is and have kids you need one.  It will change your life!) and sucked out her nose. One side was normal, but the other was totally plugged.  After a little while we could see something white coming down.  Matt grabbed the tweezers and pulled it out.

 It turns out it was a piece of foam from her old mattress.   About a week prior to this when I put her down for her nap she was playing and being kinda crazy. When I went in to check on her she had pulled her sheet off and was picking apart her foam mattress. After discovering this the boys helped me set up our big crib which had a normal mattress in it so she couldn't do that anymore.

So we know this thing was up in her nose for at least a week.  Yucky! We're grateful everything turned out ok.... and that she doesn't stink anymore. About an hour after we pulled it out she smelled totally normal again.

 In between conference sessions of General Conference on Saturday we decided to grill hot dogs at the park and ride bikes.

 We found Houston this new bigger bike for $3 at the thrift store.  It is purple and has Cinderella stickers on it, but he doesn't seem to care.  Maybe some day we'll get it painted. Until then he doesn't mind one bit to ride a purple bike with a pink helmet.

 We had a special field trip to the zoo one day.  The boys both took notebooks and wrote down names and drew pictures of animals we saw. They sure loved it.

 We got there when they opened so we got to ride the carousel for free!

 It was a beautiful day and the zoo wasn't busy at all.   The polar bear put on a great show for us.  He is very playful.

Heath- "Houst according to my observations my gum is sticky."







Me- "Houston bring me the plates from the table please."

Houston - "No Mom! I do what I want!"

 One afternoon I came out the bathroom to see a kitchen chair pushed up to the cupboard above the stove.  After further investigation I found these three quiet as can be with a bottle of sprinkles hiding behind the couch. 

I guess they can share well when they're trying to be sneaky.

 We got a part for our van in the mail.  It came wrapped in all kinds of fun paper and cardboard.  Of course the paper had to be made into armor.

Houston got his 4 year old shots.  I gave him a dollar to hold in his pocket before we got to the clinic and told him that if he didn't go into hysterics and was brave he could go to the dollar store any buy anything he wanted with his dollar.  Well he did amazingly! (which was awesome because I had all 3 kids with us) and picked out this little knight helmet. : )
