Christmas Break 2015

Matt got a few weeks off for Christmas this year. : )  We high tailed it out to Grandma & Grandpas as quick as we could!

 Aunt Amanda was super brilliant and bought a gingerbread house cake pan for this years gingerbread houses.  It was SO much easier than trying to make houses for everyone! The kids look forward to this all year long!  It's such a fun Christmas Eve Tradition.

I think one of the funnest parts of going home for Christmas is playing games after all the kiddos are in bed!  It's the best.

Christmas Day:

 For breakfast we had the traditional cold store cereal treat.

 The day was spent playing games, snacking on goodies, and having fun with everyone!  It was a wonderful Christmas Day.

 Hannah and Rowan are just 3 days apart in age. They were so cute together.  She calls him RowRow.

After a wonderful day we drove up to Springfield so we could talk with Sterling when he called home from his mission in Idaho. It was so great to see him and hear all of his stories. He is doing really well and is so happy.

It was so good to have everyone together for a chat. We are sure thankful for technology.

After a fun time with my family we went back to Granby to spend more time with the sibblings who were visiting from far away.

 The boys were SO excited when it started snowing.  Even though nothing stuck they insisted on going out into the first snow of the year.

Poor Matt spent the cold snowy day and the day following in the garage working on our van. He's pretty super. 

In true Hansen style Houston fell asleep eating dinner.

 Sammy Luke and Eddie were planning for an epic Warhammer game.  It looks like they're doing homework... but don't be fooled.  : )

 Heath and Houston helped Eddie make some terrain for the game.  They sure loved spending that time with him.

 We just love our family! It was so fun to be able to spend so much time with them.  

And the weather was beautiful. 

Aunt Kayla!

Aunt Kayla came to visit for two weeks just before Christmas!  We had so much fun adventuring with her. The whole time she was here the weather was fabulous. It couldn't have been a better visit. 

One day we went to the Nature center. We played inside, then hit the trials.  We went about 4 miles and the kiddos did great. 

 Hannah spent most of the time in the stroller.  Kayla was super and pushed her most of the way.

 We were still adventuring when Grandma got off of work so she came and joined up with us.

 These are the trails near Mom & Dad's house.  My best friend Brittlee and I used to run on these almost everyday together in High School. Good memories.

 Heath was super excited to find several REAL fossils in the rocks.

  Aunt Kayla is a pretty good snuggler.

 When Kayla was little this was her special doll, Anna Baby.  She was going through some of her old things and found her.  Kayla gave Anna Baby to Hannah and Hannah couldn't be happier.
























 Kayla and I spent several days cleaning and organizing in Mom & Dad's basement and attic.  We took 2 van loads full of unneeded stuff to be donated.  While we were going through things we found these treasures.

 The last couple days Kayla was in town I discovered that Heath and Hannah had lice.  : (      Matt had just left for several days to go on a hunting trip in Northern Missouri so it was a bit crazy.

I had the kids help me throw ALL of the fabric items down the stairs to the laundry room.  It was SO nice to have a separate laundry area so I could keep deloused things separate.

 Grandma & Grandpa had just gotten the new Minnion movie, so we borrowed it to occupy little heads while I picked through their hair. 

Hannah ate almost a whole pack of skittles, but I got all the lice. : )

Grandma came over and checked my head.  I was so surprised that I didn't have it.  Heath had it the worst. (which was super surprising because his hair is so short)
Houston was clean which was also surprising since He and Heath sleep together.
Hannah has like no hair but she had it which was super surprising too.
Lesson learned Lice are not predictable.

Grandma also vacuumed the whole house and beds and was so super helpful! It's so nice to live next to my Mom!  : )

After Heath and Hannah were all shampooed and clean the boys got nice new haircuts. : )  Then we all went to sleep : )

 We had a big Christmas Feast with Kayla just before she left. Good food and good fun!

 We all drove Kayla out to Joplin for her flight home.  It was a sad goodbye.  On the way home we stopped at Cousin Johnny and Penny's house.  It was so fun to see them again!  Our boys just love their boys and their house!  Heath had a wipeout on their trampoline just as we were leaving.  Heath's poor little head.  He has had SO many head injuries in his short lifetime.

We miss you Kayla! Come back home soon. Know though that Anna Baby is in good hands.
